Indian Assistance of NRs. 10.88 lakhs for Shree Mahakarna Sakyapa Vidyalaya, Lomangthan.

During the visit to Mustang, Ambassador of India, Shri Rakesh Sood handed over the newly constructed water tank for Shree Mahakaruna Sakyapa Vidyalaya, Lomangthan at Upper Mustang to the local community on October 12, 2009. Shree Mahakaruna Sakyapa Vidyalaya, located in Lomanthang VDC of Upper Mustang, is among the oldest monastic schools.

Government of India had earlier provided grant assistance of NRs.2.51 crores for construction of school building, hostel, monk's quarter and teacher's quarter and the infrastructure was handed over to the local community in October, 2006. India has now provided additional grant of NRs.10.88 lakhs for construction of water tank for the school to solve the problem of water supply for the school.

India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay over 2560 crores with the more than 350 large and small projects currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development. These reflect the commitment of the Government and the people of India to work together with the people of Nepal in their stride towards peace and development. These development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal and these buildings stand as a symbol of the deep friendship that characterizes the relationship between India and Nepal. Government of India looks forward to many more such initiatives in association with the Government and people of Nepal.
