Financial assistance of NRs 41.36 million for construction of a Campus Building

India extends financial assistance of NRs 41.36 million for construction of a Campus Building for Chandrakot Campus at Shantipur VDC of Gulmi District


On December 28, 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed for construction of campus building for Chandrakot Campus, Shantipur VDC, Gulmi District as part of India–Nepal Cooperation Programme of the Government of India. The campus building is sixth educational project supported by the Government of India in Gulmi district.


The project is being implemented by the District Development Committee, Gulmi at an estimated cost of NRs. 41.36 million. The present infrastructure is dilapidated and not sufficient to fulfill the needs of the Chandrakot Campus. The new campus building and the furnishing will provide adequate classroom space and create an enhanced learning environment in the Shantipur VDC of the district by contributing to the development of education infra in the district. Apart from this, eleven ambulances have also been gifted by the Government of India in the district. 


In addition, the Government of India has extended financial assistance of approx. NRs 551 million towards   renovation, restoration, upgradation of various sites of religious, educational, cultural and historical importance in Nepal in financial year 2015-2016. The India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme has an outlay of over NRs. 76 billion with more than 514 large and small development projects completed or being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects, mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development, have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
