India INVESTRADE - a three day Exposition and Buyer Seller Meet

As per the provisions of the India-Nepal Treaties of Trade & Transit and the Agreement for Cooperation to Control Unauthorized Trade, an Inter- Governmental Committee (IGC) meeting of the senior Government officers of India and Nepal is being held in Kathmandu on 21st – 22nd December, 2013. Indian delegation is led by Shri S.R. Rao, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Nepalese delegation is led by Mr. Madhav Prasad Regmi, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Supplies.  The last IGC meeting was held in New Delhi on 5th – 6th December, 2011.  

The IGC meeting provides a platform for review of implementation of past agreements besides discussing new measures to facilitate bilateral trade and investment. It is expected to discuss the issues relating to bilateral trade between India and Nepal, transit facilities provided by India to Nepal to facilitate trade of with third countries, investment promotion, improvement of infrastructure at land customs stations, day-to-day problems in regulation of Nepalese traffic-in-transit, issues related to Indian investment in Nepal, etc. 

Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a leading National Chamber of Commerce operating from Kolkata, is organizing “India INVESTRADE” - a three day Exposition and Buyer Seller Meet   from 20th - 22nd December, 2013 at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu. About 60 Indian companies representing “Electrical Equipment and Energy Sector” are expected to participate in the event. Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India is likely to grace the inaugural function along with other dignitaries on 20th December 2013 at 1500 hrs. At the exhibition venue a conference discussing various issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation in the energy sector will also take place simultaneously.
