| It has been our endeavour to provide medical facilities to ex-servicemen within Nepal. Each ex-serviceman is provided with a medicine pack once a year containing essential basic medicines with directions for usage. A sum of Rupees 1.82 crores is expended on this account annually. For the next stage of his medical treatment, we have two Medical Inspection Rooms at Pokhara and Dharan each manned by a doctor. These facilities are fully equipped with X-Ray, Pathology Lab, ECG and such facilities. At Kathmandu a Lady Doctor has been employed locally and the MI Room functions at Bhartiya Gorkha Sainik Niwas (BGSN). Besides 15 Indian Army Medical Welfare Teams visit Pokhara, Dharan and various DSBs every year for necessary treatment. Hundreds of cataract operations are performed, dentures made and spectacles issued to ex-servicemen and their dependents by these teams. In addition, the ex-servicemen can visit Army Hospital in India for free treatment. |
